2022 - TEAM EWU vs TEAM Max

• This was the closest tournament ever at the Hops as we literally ended in a tie. Thank GOD commissioner Paul had he foresight to see this coming and actually had a very easy and cool way to decide who wins, but we will get to that in a minute. The tournament started out close with both teams knotted after the first round. The singles matches leaned Maxfield's way and at the end of day 1 team Max had a 4 point lead. Team Ewu came storming back saturday morning taking 9 of 12 points to gain a small advantage going into the final round. Weather was no ones friend that afternoon as it was pissing rain and freezing cold. Pair that with the fact that the course decided to put out several groups of players best described as "challenged" ahead of us and no one was particularly happy. Everyone forged on though and the round finished with team Max 2 up, which brought us back to all square. The tie breaker was (or so we thought). Sink a putt from 15 feet first and you win. After at least 15 putts each, and several lip outs, Ewu finally put one in the back of the cup for the team win. It was quite the scene on 18 green at Columbia Point.

• The Drunkest Man Award was given to Paul Desilet and Zach Franklin. Paul had multiple double greyhounds to try and shake his hangover early saturday. He then went on to drink several more throughout the day, along with a minimum of 12 jello shots during rd 2 (shout out Gradin). Needless to say he does NOT remember the putt off, or the 5+ hour round he played that afternoon. Zach on the other hand simply did NOT plan for the 45 degree windy rainy saturday afternoon and had to drink himself warm. Turns out boat shoes, shorts, and a polo don't quite cut it in that weather. He did manage to finish all 18 holes... but failed to do so with any semblance of a golf swing after hole 5.
