Hops Classic Gives Back
The Hops Classic was started as a way for a bunch of longtime friends to get together each year to have a great time. Over the years it has evolved into much more than that. Everyone who plays in the Hops Classic knows just how lucky they are to be able to take a few days each year to golf with friends. Not everyone is that lucky and starting in 2017, as a group, we decided it was time to start giving back. Now, every year we choose a worthy cause as nominated by a Hops participant. This is our little way of saying "thank you" to world for giving us the gift of the Hops Classic Golf Tournament.
Donation Causes By Year
2017 - Cooper Siefken
Cooper Siefken is the nephew of Sean Shoemaker, longtime hops participant. In Dec of 2016, he was born with non functioning kidneys. He spent more time in childrens hospital in his first year of life than most people do in a lifetime. Through it all he smiled and continues to be an example of whats possible to the entire Shoemaker/Siefken family.
2019 - Larson Family
The Larson family lives very close to the home of the hops classic in Tri Cities. In 2019, their daughter was diagnosed with meningitis. For those unfamiliar, its a potentially deadly bacterial infection. After 6 months of trips to children's hospital in seattle, she was fully cured. The hops classic donation went towards medical and travel bills.
2021 - Aunt Judy
Hops Classic co founder Paul Deliset's aunt has been living with Chron's disease for 20+ years and it has taken its toll on her teeth to the point where many were falling out. She needed multiple crowns and implants and living on a fixed income made paying for them almost impossible. Once again the Hops Classic found a way to help.
2018 - Landon Terry
Landon Terry was a close friend of participant Jesse Rawley. In December of 2017 he lost his life tragically protecting his family. He left behind 3 young boys. A trust fund was setup in his boys names and a donation was made on behalf of the hops classic.
2020 - Rice Family
Jason Rice nearly lost his life on Christmas Eve 2020 when a heart condition reared its head. As a previous cancer survivor, they already had medical bills piled up and with Jason being the sole income for the family, they needed some extra help and the Hops Classic did what we could.
2021 - Aunt Judy cntd
In our Hops Gives Back first, we as a group were sent a handwritten thank you note from Aunt Judy. Written in cursive, which is something no Hops participant could do, and I'm pretty sure only about half could even read.
